USACE has currently deployed 95 personnel to New York City from around the nation to support recovery efforts. 60, to include 28 Army reservists, are at the Corps headquarters in Washington, D.C. in support of HQUSACE, NAD and the Pentagon. An additional two USACE personnel are on the Emergency Support Team at FEMA headquarters in Washington.

Four newly deployed urban search and rescue/structural experts have replace the original team in New York City to continue assisting the city in evaluating some of the more complicated building assessments and safety of areas to attempt search and rescue. A debris management cell of 18 USACE and six contract personnel is also on site to provide technical assistance to the city.

The Corps has deployed two Deployable Tactical Operations Centers to New York City for command and control. One has been provided to FEMA for their use.

USACE has deployed two Rapid Response Vehicles to New York City to enhance command and control of disaster recovery operations.

FEMA and the Corps are utilizing the two Deployable Tactical Operations Centers and two Rapid Response Vehicles deployed to New York City to form a linked communications network around the area of destruction.

FEMA has assigned a dredging mission to the Corps to deepen an area around Pier Six to facilitate barge traffic for debris removal. This is an addition to the ongoing Corps missions for debris-removal assessment and structural safety assessment in New York City.

The United States Army Corps of Engineers will not discuss specific security measures being taken at our facilities for force protection. The Corps is responding with appropriate security measures to meet the threat condition declared by DoD following the terrorist attacks.

All USACE employees are cautioned to maintain situational awareness for any unusual persons or activities around their work areas or projects. Notify security managers if anything unusual is noted or suspected.
